Summer is the high travel season in the Mediterranean. The weather is hot and sunny, the water is warm, and millions of people flock to the coast to soak up the sun and take a break from routine. The best time to take a Mediterranean cruise, however, is in the spring (May-June) or fall (September-October).

The trip can easily be done by car or train—each of the cities and villages included have central train stations. Allow 2-3 weeks to make the most of each destination – consider a rail pass if you’re going to travel the entire route!

Popular holiday destinations such as Spain, Greece, Portugal, Italy and more are all considered safe to travel to right now, with only some Covid regulations in place at the borders.

The average price of a 7-day trip to the Mediterranean Coast is $1,633 for a solo traveler, $2,933 for a couple, and $5,498 for a family of four. Mediterranean Coast hotels range from $44 to $202 per night with an average of $78, while most vacation rentals will cost $130 to $380 per night for the entire home.

July has an average maximum temperature of 35°C (95°F) and is the warmest month of the year.
